A 22-year-old woman managed to foil a mugger who tried to grab her handbag. The victim was approached by the man at around 9.55pm on Monday in Lemsford Road, St Albans. The woman, from St Albans, held onto her bag and the culprit made off empty-handed in

A 22-year-old woman managed to foil a mugger who tried to grab her handbag.

The victim was approached by the man at around 9.55pm on Monday in Lemsford Road, St Albans. The woman, from St Albans, held onto her bag and the culprit made off empty-handed in the direction of Clarence Park.

Although the victim was uninjured, police advise people to let go of their belongings in such circumstances.

The suspect was about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build and wearing a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. Anyone with information should contact 01727 796 028 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
