A woman has been left in pain and shock after she was attacked by an out of control dog in St Albans.

Between 4pm and 4.15pm on January 28, the victim was running with her own dog through the Batchwood forest near Toulmin Drive when a large white dog knocked her down.

The Samoyed or akita type hound, which was on an extendable lead, grabbed and bit her left leg.

Although the shocked victim did not manage to get details from its owner, she saw he was Asian, between 20 and 25-years-old, and of very slim build.

Herts police officers are appealing for information or witnesses to the incident.

Investigating PC Jane Flemons said: “The victim was in pain and shock following the attack and did not manage to get the details of the man who was walking the large dog.

“There were a number of other people using the woods at this time and I’m appealing for anyone who saw a man, described as being of Asian appearance, between 20 and 25-years-old, of very slim build with a large white Samoyed or akita type dog on an extendable lead to get in touch as you may have information that could help our enquiries.”

Anyone who could help should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Alternatively, email jane.flemons@herts.pnn.police.uk
