The hopes of a county have been buoyed then brutally crushed after Herts County Council apologised for mistakenly saying there will be two Bank Holidays in August.
In a public email, the council said their household waste recycling centres would be open on the Bank Holidays on Monday, August 6 and Monday, August 27.
However, the government only lists a Bank Holiday on Monday, August 27.
The mistake was quickly rectified, and everyone’s hastily-organised getaway plans were smashed to smithereens, with another email saying: “Each Household Waste Recycling Centre will be open Bank Holiday Monday [on August] 27.
“Apologies for getting your hopes up in the earlier bulletin by saying we had two to look forward to.”
