Harpenden Bowls Club has undergone a renovation thanks to a group of young volunteers.
Home improvement retailer Wickes, which is based in Luton, aided seven volunteers in completing the five-day project to refresh the clubhouse.
The project was organised by social enterprise VIY (Volunteer It Yourself), which enables young people to learn trade and building skills by fixing community buildings. Each volunteer gained a painting and decoration accreditation.
Volunteers, working alongside Luton Town Football Club midfielder Lawson D’Arth and striker James Collins, installed and painted a new kitchen, and painted the clubhouse.
Lyn Roberts, ladies secretary at Harpenden Bowls Club, said: “The project has been a great success and we are delighted with the final result. Our clubhouse looks totally refreshed and we are extremely grateful to everyone involved.”
