Two children were taken to hospital after being involved in a car fire in St Albans yesterday.

A collision took place between a Vauxhall Astra and an unoccupied black Kia Sportage on Lattimore Road at around 5.30pm.

Police, fire and rescue, and both land and air ambulances attended reports a car had overturned and was on fire.

No one was trapped in the vehicles, and firefighters helped ambulance crews administer first aid.

The two children and a woman with head injuries were taken to Watford General Hospital by land ambulance, but none of their injuries are thought to be life-threatening.

Both cars were recovered and the road was reopened.

Police have opened enquiries into the collision, and asked anyone who saw the incident and has not already spoken to police to call 101, quoting reference number 550 of November 12.
