Several lanes of the M1 are closed near to St Albans due to a crash involving three cars and a motorbike.
The second, third and fourth lanes are closed between junction eight and nine northbound and the problem is not expected to clear until 6pm.
Traffic is expected to return to normal at 7pm tonight.
