The respectability of Harpenden Common was blown away like a tumbleweed in a hurricane for a rootin’, tootin’ Harpenden Carnival last weekend.

From all over the West (Common) came rustlers, cut-throats, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, native Americans, bandits, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, and horse riders for the Saturday show.

Harpenden Round Table said: “There are two main aims: firstly to provide the community with a fun, free day out and secondly to raise lots of money for charity. This year it looks like the proceeds will total around £23,000, which will all be distributed to our three chosen charities - the Oracle Cancer Trust, Herts Action on Disability and Mind - plus small donations to other local charities and good causes. This is a fantastic sum and is thanks to the generosity of all the visitors and sponsors.” To see more photos, join our Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/enjoyharpendenmore
