The St Albans Civic Ball has raised £4,183 for counselling service Youth Talk.

185 guests attended the event, which was held last Friday at Sopwell Manor on Cottonmill Lane, and were treated to Asian-inspired food and Bollywood-style dancing.

Tom McNally, a Liberal Democrat peer and patron of Youth Talk, gave an after-dinner speech celebrating St Albans and the guests then danced to the covers of popular songs performed by Hertfordshire-based band Co-Jones.

A raffle, tombola and silent auction were also held to help raise funds for Youth Talk.

St Albans’ mayor Cllr Mohammad Iqbal Zia said: “I want to thank everyone who supported the annual Civic Ball and helped raise funds for Youth Talk, my mayoral charity for the year. Youth Talk works tirelessly to help young people with social, emotional and educational needs by providing a much-needed confidential counselling and support service.”
