In 2018, 100 gardens will open up for the third annual National Garden Scheme Snowdrop Festival, some with as many as 300 varieties of snowdrop.

The Wheathampstead festival will be held in Waterend House, Waterend Lane on Saturday, February 24. Visitors can explore a four-acre garden outside the Jacobean manor house.

National Garden Scheme chief executive George Plumtre said: “During our first Snowdrop Festival in 2016 many of our garden owners were overwhelmed by the amount of visitors that attended their openings.

“Whether you want to admire the different varieties of snowdrops or just have a walk in lovely surroundings followed by a nice cup of tea and slice of cake, visiting a National Garden Scheme garden in February will be the perfect escape.”

Admission costs £5, with children going in free.
