A JEWELLER will help TV star Kirstie Allsopp organise a vintage-themed wedding when she makes an appearance in next week’s episode of her latest Channel 4 show.

Rachel Jeffrey is set to feature in a special wedding edition of Kirstie’s Vintage Home where she will teach a couple how to make their own wedding rings.

Earlier this year Rachel, who runs a jewellery business in Mill Walk, Wheathamstead, applied to be on the programme after her colleague spotted they were on the hunt for craftspeople.

While the series is about using vintage style to transform unloved homes, the episode she was chosen to be in sees the Location, Location, Location presenter draft in expert crafters to prepare a couple for their big day.

Back in the summer Rachel was one of the lucky few to be invited to Kirstie’s workshop in London’s Portobello Road to film the show, and assist the loved-up pair in making white gold wedding rings for each other.

She was also asked to lend a helping hand to Kirstie, who will be shown making a bangle as a gift for the bride-to-be.

Talking about the filming she said: “Kirstie loved it, she thought I was a really good teacher but she is so naughty. From that point of view she was fun to teach but quite hard to teach because she would just go straight in!”

Rachel went on: “We can make wedding rings for people here [at Rachel Jeffrey Jewellery] who commission us to do it, but there is nothing better than actually working with a couple and they make their own wedding rings.

“To make that piece of jewellery is massively sentimental. It is great to think they will always remember that.

“It was a fantastic experience, I loved it and was buzzing for days.”

The silversmith, whose career boasts crafting an item of jewellery for the Queen Mother for her 100th birthday, will also appear in the book which accompanies the series.

To watch Rachel in action tune in at 8pm on Thursday, November 29.
