A handover ceremony took place at the library in Memorial Hall on Tuesday, April 17. Andrew Bignell, the head of libraries, culture and learning at Herts county council, formally handed the library over to Chrissie Chadney, chair of the library’s management committee.
Cllr Annie Brewster, district council portfolio holder for sport, leisure and heritage, also attended the ceremony, as did David Johnston, head of the Wheathampstead parish church council.

David Ireson, a representative of the management committee, said: “Forty volunteers have spent many hours training over the last year to reach this stage and it is a great tribute to Chrissie Chadney that such rapid progress towards the village running its own library has been made.”
