A WHEATHAMPSTEAD business is aiming to provide a lifeline for young people searching for work or education options across the county.

With places at university more difficult than ever to achieve, students leaving universities unable to find suitable employment and those with good GCSE results wondering if the ‘A level to university’ route is worth the hassle, Kids2Work offers in-depth career advice to help young people weigh up their options.

Founder Sally Wells is a professional business woman who has 15 years’ experience with a major recruitment group and has run her own recruitment business for the past seven, during which this period she has helped thousands of young people find their first jobs.

She has now sold her business to run her new company Kids2Work: “I realised there was a big opportunity for me to set up a business that filled a growing and urgent need in a field that I was passionate about and where I had considerable experience.

“In my first year I have helped school leavers, GCSE and A level students, graduates and people in their 20s who want a change in career. I have worked with some really interesting clients and it is extremely rewarding to see them in work and on the right path for their futures.”

Sally has helped people into a range of professions from recruitment to IT and marketing to training as a Norland Nanny.

Annabel Sharp is one of Sally’s many success stories. She left school four years ago with many GCSEs but was undecided as to a career path. After giving her best at office work and being a vending machine engineer she felt unfulfilled and unhappy. Annabel contacted Sally who organised a psychometric profiling test and after several hours of consultation, confirmed her suitability for a career in the caring sector, preferably with children.

Annabel said: “Sally was a great help. She was caring and interested in me, discussed all possible childcare career opportunities and endorsed a belief that it was something I would be good at. To confirm this she recommended that I worked at a local nursery for a year and then advised me to apply for training at the world famous Norland Childcare Training College in Bath.”

“Despite a lot of competition, I was accepted in September 2009 and I am now half way through my course. I love it – it’s the best job in the world.”

After graduation in September 2011 as one of the world’s top trained nannies, Annabel will be in demand from families across the globe..
