St Albans Cathedral has been inducted into the Tourism Hall of Fame by Trip Advisor for consistently receiving good ratings from many of its 200,000 visitors per year.
The attraction runs free guided tours every day and hosts events such as the Alban Pilgrimage, which commemorates St Alban, for whom the city is named after.
The Dean of St Albans Cathedral, the Very Rev’d Dr Jeffrey John, said: “We are all delighted to know that St Albans Cathedral has been included in the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame award.
“Welcoming people is in the DNA of the place, ever since Alban took in a fugitive priest 1700 years ago, and gave up his life for him.
“It is a real delight to have so many people coming to enjoy the atmosphere and beauty of the building and its setting, and to read on Trip Advisor how much it has meant to them. Thank you -and keep coming back!”
