Police Community Support Officers have been posted around Colney Heath School following an incident on Friday.

At 2.45pm on Friday, a white man in a black carrier whistled at a girl on Roestock Lane in the village while her mother was behind her.

The mum called her daughter back before the man could speak to the girl. The man did not attempt to approach or touch her.

An officer will be near Colney Heath School today and tomorrow to offer reassurance to parents and police have encouraged people to report their concerns about their own or another child’s safety.

I should probably have taken the hint! Walking out into the garden recently an unprecedented flock of thirty or more crows raucously greeted me from the treetops at the bottom of my garden. Cawing and croaking these big, black birds clung clumsily to the top most branches and twigs, jostling and flapping to stay balanced in a constant flurry of feathers. There is always something ominous about crows – they are after all carrion crows, the vultures of the bird world – always watching for scraps and weakness that might mean their next meal.
