A robber armed with what is believed to be a handgun stormed into a supermarket demanding money this morning.
Police were called at 6.19am to the Tesco Express garage on Lower Luton Road in Harpenden after a man stole £100 from the till.
He has been described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10in tall and of slim build, and he was wearing dark-coloured clothing and gloves with a black rucksack.
Det Sgt Adrian Lysak said: “It was reported a man had entered the garage in possession of what is believed to be a handgun.
“Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of the incident, however it would have been very distressing for all concerned.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or saw anything suspicious in the area to contact us as soon as possible with information.”
