A month-long fundraising campaign held by a leisure centre has seen nearly £2,000 for charity.

Everyone Active at Westminster Lodge in St Albans raised £1,800 for the Anthony Nolan Trust, a charity which matches potential blood stem and bone marrow donors with people in need of life-saving transplants.

‘Swim around the world’ challenge, a table tennis tournament, a comedy night and a staff rounders match were just some of the activities put on by the pool and gym.

Cllr Annie Brewster, portfolio holder for Sports, Leisure and heritage for St Albans district council, said: “This was a great effort by everyone involved at Westminster Lodge.

“It was an opportunity for people to have some fun, try out new exercises and raise money for a vital cause. I am delighted with the excellent response it had.”
