Police and ambulance services were called to Sopwell House Hotel in St Albans just before midnight on Friday when the victim, a 57-year-old man from Stevenage, was discovered.

The assault took place between 11.15pm and 11.35pm within the grounds of the hotel in Cottonmill Lane.
