St Albans and Harpenden residents were left baffled this afternoon (Tuesday) after the district enjoyed a short flurry of snow- followed by spell of sunshine.

At about 1pm snow flakes began to fall in St Albans and Harpenden, much to the amazement of residents, as it was soon followed by a burst of sunshine.

Some Harpenden residents took to Twitter to express their amazement.

One user, Karen Jennings, said: “It’s snowing in Harpenden, what’s going on! #Spring #snow #goaway.”

Another, Nicky S, said: “It’s actually #snowing in #harpenden.”
