Christmas is kicking off early for St Albans with snow flurries welcoming in the start of the festive season.
From 5am to 10am on Friday the Met Office predicts a light snow shower will rain down on the district.
At those times it will feel a bitter -5C, but cloudy for the rest of the day.
This forecast is calm compared to the rest of the UK, with Scotland bracing itself for snow drifts as deep as 20cm and Wales facing 5cm.
Before then Storm Caroline is set to bring very gusty conditions to northern Scotland, with warnings of 80mph winds throughout tomorrow. It opens the floodgates for cold and snowy weather for the rest of the island.
