People are being warned to wrap up warm as the district is likely to be hit by snow this evening (Thurs).
A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office with snow, sleet and hail showers expected later today in St Albans area.
The afternoon will see rain, hail and sleet, with a heavy snow shower expected around 6pm.
It may settle in places, especially from late afternoon and more especially on high ground.
Stretches of ice are also likely, and the public should be aware of the risk of some travel disruption and difficult driving conditions.
