Harpenden faced the wrath of heavy rain yesterday afternoon as flash flooding hit several areas of the town.

Bower’s Parade became waterlogged at around 4pm and one resident said Townsend Lane also flooded.
Teresa Walshe added: “The drainage system was overwhelmed and water was pouring up from the drains instead of going down it!”
Lower Luton Road appeared completely flooded at around 4.30pm and police had to assist in helping drivers who were stuck in the water.
Two issues of flooding were also reported in Southdown Road and Coldharbour Lane just after 4pm.
