Flood alerts have been issued for waterways in St Albans district and Radlett by the Environment Agency (EA) today (Wednesday) after heavy downpours.
At 1.43pm, alerts were given for Upper River Colne and Tykes Water (Radlett Brook) at Colney Heath, London Colney and Radlett.
The EA said: “The Upper River Colne is responding to heavy rainfall received over the last two to three hours.
“Rivers are expected to rise, resulting in flooding to lower lying land, roads and gardens next to the river.”
The agency added: “Surface water flooding can also be expected in some locations.”
Although rain persisted until mid-afternoon, it has “slowly cleared to the east, leaving a dry evening”.
The EA said it would continue to monitor the local waterways, and update its alerts tonight.
