Motorists visiting St Albans city centre today (Thursday) have been warned to expect traffic congestion in connection with a large funeral.
A service is being held at the Dagnall Street Baptist Church at 12.30pm. At about 2.30pm hundreds of mourners will be making their way to the Hatfield Road Cemetery.
The procession will include a horse-drawn hearse and limousines, with the cortege going from Verulam Road, along High Street to Chequer and St Peter’s Streets, and onto Hatfield Road.
A spokeswoman for Herts Police said that officers have been contacted in relation to the funeral as a “large number of people are expected to attend”.
She added: “We are expecting some delays in the area around Upper Dagnall Street and would ask people to avoid that area if they can.”
