A VAN caught on fire as its driver went to join the M25 yesterday (Sunday) morning.
Firefighters from St Albans were called to the slip road onto the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway at Junction 22 at around 9.30am.
A blaze had broken out underneath the bonnet of the white Vauxhall van while it was still on the slip road and the driver – who was from Essex – quickly removed valuable tools from the back before the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.
The fire was all out within 20 minutes but the van and the tools which remained inside were completely destroyed by fire.
