A St Albans woman in her 40s remained in a serious condition in hospital today (Tuesday) after being airlifted with neck injuries yesterday.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) said the Herts Air Ambulance flew the woman to the Royal London Hospital after the service was called to a home at Sandpit Lane at 3.36pm.

A spokeswoman for Herts Police quashed rumours aired via social media that there were gunshots in the location around that time.

She said: “There were definitely no guns involved.”

However a cordon was temporarily set up, and a forensics team had investigated the site yesterday “as a precaution”.
