BENEFACTOR John Stocker MBE has been selected by the UK Independence Party (UKIP) to stand as their prospective parliamentary candidate for St Albans.

John has been a resident of St Albans for over 30 years and is well known for his support of the community and is a patron of Grove House Hospice and the St Albans International Organ Festival. He is also a major benefactor of St Albans Abbey and numerous other charities within St Albans.

John Stocker said "I am delighted to have been selected. Whilst fully supporting the objectives and manifesto of UKIP I consider first and foremost that my prime duty is to represent the interests and views of the constituency and pledge to uphold these duties when elected."

Mr Stocker is a successful businessman with a career spanning the Royal Navy, the offshore industry and latterly running a group of companies based in St Albans centred around the construction industry.
