Two men have been injured in a double stabbing in St Albans, one of whom is in a serious condition.
Herts Police were called to Tanners Close, Oysterfields, shortly after 9pm last night (Sunday) following reports that two men had sustained serious injuries.
Both men were taken to hospital.
Two men, a 20 year old from Abbots Langley and a 47 year old man from Edgware, have been arrested in connection with this assault, on suspicion of GBH.
They remain in custody at this time.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Police are investigating after two men were stabbed during a domestic-related incident which occurred last night in Artisan Crescent.
“Both men were taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London where they remain at this time.”
The incident has shocked residents in the Oysterfields estate, five of whom have contacted the Herts Advertiser about the attack.
One local said the area had initially been put in “lock down mode” as police recommended residents stay indoors while they attended the scene.
This paper understands that the men were seen “staggering” through the estate, from Artisan Crescent - where the stabbings occurred - to where they collapsed in Tanners Close.
At first, people had assumed they were drunk.
However they realised the seriousness of the situation when they noticed blood on the pair.
One man had multiple stab wounds, including to his stomach.
A resident said: “You can still see blood on the road where they collapsed. We had armed police here, and I thought ‘Oh my God’. I hadn’t realised there had been a serious assault.”
This morning a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) said paramedics received a call at 9.05pm yesterday to Tanners Close.
A rapid response vehicle, two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer attended the scene.
They treated two patients with serious injuries.
He confirmed that one man had chest and abdomen injuries, while the second victim had a chest injury.
