TWO horses were killed in a fire which broke out in their stables during the early hours of this morning.
Firefighters were called to Pursley Farm in London Road, Shenley, just after midnight where they found a single-storey detached stable block of around 10 metres by five metres well alight.
Two crews from St Albans and one from Borehamwood worked to put out the flames but the two horses trapped in the stable block died.
Firefighters remained on the scene until around 2am dampening down.
The cause is being treated as doubtful and a fire investigation will be carried out today.
