A traveller has been ordered to pay £10,000 in costs after the district council obtained a High Court order against unauthorised development on Green Belt land.
At a hearing last Tuesday Judge Richard Seymour imposed the injunction ordering that the defendants - who were not represented at the hearing - be restrained from causing or permitting caravans be stationed at Tullochside, Little Revel End Lane in Redbourn.
Up to 10 caravans were removed from the Green Belt site before the hearing.
Ned Stanley, who controls the site and was first defendant, was ordered to pay St Albans district council’s costs, which were summarily assessed at £10,000.
After the injunction was granted, the council’s executive leader Cllr Julian Daly said: “The Green Belt needs to be protected against unauthorised development.
“The council will take action where there is sufficient evidence to do so.”
The site itself is an authorised travellers’ site, but the caravans were on an adjoining field.
