IF you get confused trying to work out First Capital Connect (FCC) train times from St Albans, Harpenden and Radlett to London this weekend, then don't worry -- FCC seem just as confused.
This week their website was showing that no trains were running from the three local stations this weekend. Instead the site was recommending that rail passengers from St Albans City Station should walk to Abbey Station, catch the Abbey Flyer to Watford, then catch a train to Euston and then the Underground to St Pancras. It reckoned the journey, which on a fast train normally takes about 20 minutes, could take more than two hours.
One puzzled passenger was St Albans beer writer Roger Protz who after seeing the information on FCC's website then got on to National Rail Inquiries to see if that was the case and was told his only route into London was indeed on this tortuous route.
But today (Thursday) a spokesperson for FCC insisted that there were two fast trains an hour running into St Pancras this weekend as there has been throughout the engineering works.
He firstly claimed that the FCC website was correct but then said that in order to get the correct information, people had to open a pdf on the website which showed they were running the usual two fast trains an hour to St Pancras from St Albans and the normal slow trains were running to Hendon where passengers had been changing onto buses while the present engineering works were ongoing.
