MORE than 100 boxes of items for children are going out to Romania next month as a result of a successful charity campaign
Orchid Group, which has more than 200 pubs nationwide, has been collecting educational and arts and crafts materials to take to orphans.
St Albans MP Anne Main helped launch the charity bid at the firm's head office in Burydell Lane in Park Street.
She said: "I think it's such a worthwhile cause that I have promised to help them out with delivering some stuff myself before they go out there."
Many local people have helped out by delivering to the firm's Park Street office but much of the stuff has been collected from pub regulars nationwide.
