A TODDLER was locked inside a flat on his own yesterday (Monday) afternoon with his concerned mother left calling on the assistance of firefighters to get back inside.
The fire crew from St Albans arrived at Riverside Road in St Albans at around 3pm to be told by the mother that a hot bath was running, food was cooking and the tumble dryer was on inside the first-floor flat.
Firefighters tried to gain entry to the property to reach the three-year-old through a window but they ended up having to smash down the door.
They left the scene within about half-an-hour.
