TICKET machines at St Albans City train station have encountered technical faults, leaving frustrated commuters having to wait in long queues before boarding their trains.
The problems started with the machines overnight and only one machine was operating properly this morning (Thursday).
One commuter contacted the Herts Advertiser about the problem and said the queue of passengers was out of the station doors.
A spokesperson for train operator First Capital Connect said: "Engineers from the machine manufacturer have been on site working all morning and are working to repair the machines as quickly as possible. We would apologise for any inconvenience caused."
He added: "To ease queues, we had revenue staff selling tickets through the morning peak and some customers were allowed to purchase tickets at the end of their journeys or on board.
