BRAZEN thieves stole items including a box of treasured home videos as a family were loading up a van on their driveway.

The incident in Ely Road, St Albans, happened on Saturday, May 21, between 7am and 8,30am while the property owners were going in and out of the house to load up the vehicle. The culprits stole 32 years worth of home videos and DVDs as well as eight bottles of spirits.

Investigating officer, Dc Tracey Trever, said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and might have seen either the items being removed, or anyone acting suspiciously, to get in contact with police.

He added: “The stolen DVDs are very dear to the victims’ hearts as they included 32 years worth of home videos of their children growing up and family holidays. I’d like to appeal to the better nature of those responsible for this theft and ask that, at the very least, they hand the home videos and DVDs into their local police station.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dc Trever on the non-emergency number 0845 3300 222 citing crime reference number F1/11/1996. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
