Adam Nazar: 24, of Hill End Lane, St Albans, was fined £146 plus £210 costs for dishonestly receiving stolen goods, namely a Garmin satnav worth £99.99, at St Albans on June 2, and was awarded six penalty points for driving without insurance or a licence along Cairns Close, St Albans, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, on June 2.

Joseph Lee: 42, of Wilshere Avenue. St Albans, was committed to prison for four weeks suspended for 10 months, and ordered to pay £250 plus £165 compensation after stealing a handbag and its contents in Hemel Hempstead on March 28.

Keith Thompson: 61, of Green Lane, St Albans, was fined £200 plus £770 costs for failing to notify the district council about a change of circumstances which would affect his entitlement to housing benefit between June 5 2010 and February 18 2014, and failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions about a change of circumstances which would affect his entitlement to income support between December 14 2010 and September 2 2013, namely that he had married his landlady Linda Thompson on June 5 2010.
