A plaque commemorating Clive Churchhouse, a decades-long volunteer and supporter of St Albans City FC who died in a tragic accident earlier this year, has been unveiled at the club.
Before the Saints’ played Gloucester City on Saturday, September 2, chairman Lawrence Levy and members of Mr Churchhouse’s family revealed the plaque.
Mr Churchhouse died in July this year after falling from the roof of the club.
Sylvia Nicoll, Clive’s sister, said: “It was very good, and as far as it could be, was enjoyable.
“We were celebrating him, not mourning him, so we could not be too sombre.
“I think the club did him proud.”
Mr Churchhouse’s favourite song, Rockin’ All Over the World by Status Quo was played at the beginning and end of the game.
Fans also gave a minute’s applause in his memory.
Club chairman Lawrence Levy said: “It was a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to this football club.”
