Some local commuters using Thameslink services faced long delays on Tuesday evening because of disruption at London Bridge.
Delays of up to half an hour were experienced from 6.30pm and the service was still suffering from a knock-on effect this morning.
Larry Heyman, Integration and Partnership Manager for Govia Thameslink Railway, said: “There was very serious congestion following the previous closure of London Bridge due to traffic reduction and a reduction in the number of platforms. A number of trains coming in from Brighton had to turn around.”
A multi-milion pound redevelopment of London Bridge station, expected to finish in 2018, is currently underway.
