Delays of up to 40 minutes are expected on the Thameslink line until about 11am today (Monday) following issues with the overhead lines.

Commuters were faced with long delays this morning after a train came to a halt on the southbound line between St Pancras and Blackfriars at 9am affecting services running through St Albans station.

A spokesman for Thameslink said that the train which had disrupted services was one of the older trains and would soon be replaced with a new one.

All lines were closed while the train was recovered and were reopened by 9.45am.

It’s still unknown what caused the problems but there were issues with the overhead lines.
