A programme manager from Tesco in St Albans has been named one of the UK's most inspirational role models in the transport and logistics injury.

Caroline Milnes was announced as the winner of the infrastructure award at the 2017 FTA Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.

The infrastructure award is given to a woman who is improving road or rail infrastructure.

Ms Milnes joined the distribution function in October 2013, as leader of the environmental agenda. She moved into the engineering team as a fleet engineer, despite having no technical background.

She completed and passed her Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) within the first year in her new role and now champions health and safety in the central Health and Safety Matters groups.

She has also introduced new initiatives such as 360-degree cameras on all rigid fleet and nearside cameras on all tractor units.

One of the awards’ aims is to create more visible role models to encourage women to pursue a career in the industry.
