A TEENAGER suffered serious facial injuries after her moped was involved in a collision in St Albans.

The 16-year-old girl was riding her moped along Sopwell Lane when she was involved in a collision with a large black car that was turning right out of Thorpe Road, close to the White Lion pub.

The girl came off her bike and collided with a parked car, but the black car did not stop at the scene. She was taken to Watford General Hospital where she was treated for serious facial injuries before she was allowed to go home.

The police are appealing for witnesses and information for what they regard as a serious road traffic collision. PC Jeremy Flynn, who is investigating, said: “I understand that a number of people gave assistance to the girl and I am appealing to these people to contact police.

“It may be that the driver was unaware that they had been involved in the collision, or that they were unable to stop at the scene. If this was you, I’d urge you contact the police at the earliest opportunity. Please call via the non-emergency number: 0845 3300222.”
