A TEENAGE girl was injured when she was hit by a van in the city centre on Friday afternoon.

The collision involving a blue Mercedes van happened on Alma Road at the junction with Victoria Street at around 3.30pm as the 15-year-old from Harpenden was standing at the crossing outside the Horn pub.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene but cancelled when it became clear the girl had sustained minor injuries and she was taken to Watford General Hospital.

Pc James Lodge said: “I am seeking witnesses to this collision. It was a very busy area with both foot and vehicle traffic as it was nearing rush hour. If you witnessed this please get in touch via the non-emergency number 0845 3300 222, as soon as possible.”
