An 18 year old is believed to be in a critical condition in hospital after his car collided with a tree in the early hours of the morning in St Albans.
Emergency services were called to Alverton just off Green Lane at around 5.30am after the young man’s mini cooper overturned, causing the roof to collapse and trapping him inside.
Crews from St Albans fire service cut him free from the car before he was transferred to Watford General Hospital after receiving serious injuries.
He has since been moved to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London for further care.
Police closed the road after the incident but recently reopened it.
