There’s still time to sign up for the annual Herts 10K, which takes place in Harpenden on October 8.

For the first time all runners aged 12 to 16 who complete the race will be rewarded with a presentation cup and ribbon to wear. For the last 12 years, the leading male and female adult runners have received trophies, and the three slowest runners received bouquets of flowers - it is hoped this new change will encourage more youngsters to take part.

The race is in aid of Rennie Grove Hospice Care, and Herts head of fundraising Kate Grigg said: “The money raised from events like the Herts 10K is crucial if we are to continue to care for a growing number of local patients. We’d love to see more young people taking part, vying for the winners’ trophies and raising funds for local families in need.”

Register here - it costs £22, but includes entry, a T-shirt, a finishers medal, chip timing, and water en-route.
