Still time to join Herts 10K Challenge fundraiser in Harpenden

This Sunday (11) sees the tenth annual Herts 10K at Rothamsted Research in Harpenden.
Founded by Lawrence Levy in 2005, a decade on this popular run has become the single biggest fundraising event for Rennie Grove Hospice Care – and there’s still time to secure your place on the starting line.
For people who have never taken part in an organised run before, the Herts 10K is a great first-time event.
There is no time limit in which to complete the course, so you can run or walk at your own pace and the charity pledges to cheer everyone across the finish line whether they are the first or the last to finish.
Colin Wareham, from Harpenden Arrows Running Club, who is a veteran 10k runner, said: “Members of our club compete at 10k events across Europe but for many the Herts 10K remains their favourite and must-do run.
“It’s a real community event and we are so lucky to have this event on our doorstep.
Whether you are looking to improve your personal best or are just starting out running, the friendly atmosphere makes this a great race.”
Rennie Grove events fundraising manager Gemma Samarsinghe said: “The Herts 10K is our flagship fundraising event and we are very grateful to have such great support from local groups such as Harpenden Arrows and Sea Cadets who help set up and on the day.”
The Herts 10K takes participants through the beautiful countryside around Rothamsted Research and is highly praised by participants for its stunning scenery.
Gemma added: “Sponsorship money raised by participants makes a massive difference to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness.
“Over the years the Herts 10K has raised over £1 million. This year we hope to bring in a further £150,000 – enough to fund five specialist nurses to care for patients in their own homes and at Grove House.”
Advance registration is available until the end of tomorrow (Friday October 9) and then on the day between 8:30am and 9:30am. Visit www.herts10k.com or call 01442 820740.
