Pupils from a school Rotary Interact club sold homemade cakes to help raise money at the St Albans Charity Cycle Ride.

The three girls from St Albans Girls School (STAGS), Anisah Choudhuri from Year 9 and Ila Cibu and Carys MacIntyre from Year 8, sold a selection of homemade cakes throughout the event on Sunday.

Anisah said: “It was a nice fun day out for the families in St Albans. I felt privileged and proud to be there in my Rotary tabard.”

Mayor of St Albans Mohammad Iqbal Zia, who attended the Cycle Ride, praised the pupils for their efforts, which raised more than £300 for their chosen charities; MS, Connected and The Donkey Sanctuary. This is the third year STAGS has run a cake stall at the event.

Rotary youth mentor Lavinia Hale said: “Thanks go to Year 7 and 8 pupils and their families at STAGS for generously donating all the delicious edible sweet treats which were so well received by the local visitors.”
