Pupils from Sandridge School have been selling poppies all this week in the build up to Remembrance Day.
Children wearing period costumes set up a stall in Morrisons on Hatfield Road as part of their history lessons on the Second World War.
Rachael Black, who is a member of the PTA and has two sons in Year Six and Year Four, set up the stall with fellow mum Emma Murphy. She said: “It’s a way the children can be part of the community and understand giving and volunteering for others. It’s about being a good person and giving back to society which is part of the school ethos.
“It’s something we try to instil in them each day in school. Year Six have a history focus this term on World War Two which ties in with PSHE.”
