Young people in the district have a new champion - a 16-year-old St Albans Girls School student who has been elected on to the United Kingdom Youth Parliament (UKYP).

Yasmin Muhtadi learned that she had been chosen at a ceremony at County Hall last week.

She will work with nine other elected members from Herts for the next 12 months tackling issues such as bullying, mental health, self-image, equality and access to health services.

Yasmin said: “I’m really looking forward to making young people’s voices heard.”
