Resurfacing works on a St Albans road will commence on Monday, seeing road closures across five nights.

A £90,000 resurfacing scheme on St Stephens Hill will take place from Monday July 21, resulting in closures between Watling Street and Griffiths Way.

The resurfacing will occur between 8pm and 5am for approximately five nights, with alternate routes being put in place.

The contractor aims to have the noisiest operations take place before midnight in order to minimise disturbance to local residents.

Vehicle access to properties will be maintained and controlled by gatemen at each end of the closure.

Terry Douris, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “These works form part of Hertfordshire County Council’s ongoing commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users in Hertfordshire.

“We appreciate that these significant resurfacing works are likely to cause disruption and inconvenience to motorists. We apologise for this and would ask everyone for their cooperation while the work is in progress.”
