More than £5,500 was raised for charity when a 10 piece soul band took to the local stage for a fundraiser gig.

On Friday (6) Harpenden Public Halls came alive to the sounds of Soulfish and 2Tone in aid of Harpenden Mencap.

Since 1959 Harpenden Mencap has been supporting local people with a learning disability and fundraising is paramount to its survival. The sum raised will go towards the replacement of the charity’s transport vehicles for service users.

Harpenden Mencap trustee, Julie Caseberry, said, “Soulfish and Harpenden Mencap have a long association, and we are very grateful to the band members for supporting our cause.

“The amount raised is incredible, and we extend our thanks to, not only Soulfish and 2Tone, but also the local community for coming along to support their local charity, Harpenden Mencap.”
