A gang of boys allegedly wielding hammers chased a group of schoolchildren through suburban St Albans.
On Friday at about 3.45pm a group of males tore after teenagers from Samuel Ryder Academy down Mountbatten Close - police searched the area but did not find the perpetrators.
Deputy headteacher Ian Bailey said they are investigating: “All I can tell you is some youths who we don’t know caused a bit of a ruckus outside the school. We are looking into it.”
He said he did not see any weapons because “it all happened so quickly”.
“We don’t know who they are or why they were here but we hope they don’t come down again. We just don’t want it, it’s a nice school.”
A spokesperson from Herts police said: “Police were called to at 3.45pm on Friday, October 6 to reports of schoolchildren being chased by a group of males. Officers searched the area but did not find any disorder.”
